Golf

Where: Meet at SkillWise
Extra Fees: $5 per session
Description:
Play golf in small groups of 2 or 3 people. Usually this is at Riverlands Golf in Kaiapoi. Facilitators score holes where possible to determine trends and develop friendly competition. There is a lot of walking in this activity.
You will learn:
• Learn how to play and score a round of golf.
• Improve technique, power and strategy.
• Track progress and personal development.
What to bring:
• Water or another drink.
• Sunscreen (preferably applied before the session).
• Packed lunch.
• Bus card (if leaving directly after the game).
Other Info:
• Please note that the golf course can be wet and uneven, so it may not be suitable for people using wheelchairs or those with limited mobility. This will be assessed on an individual basis.
Cricket
Facilitator: Jonny and Lou
When: Tuesday 9:30AM - 3:00PM
Where: Meet at SkillWise at 9.30AM or Hagley Park Polo Grounds at 10AM

Description:
Join a SkillWise cricket team and play at Hagley Park in a tournament against other organisations. Everyone gets to bowl and bat. We play with a rubber ball (not super hard cricket balls).
You will learn:
• Develop cricket skills including batting, bowling, catching, throwing, and wicket keeping.
• Build teamwork and communication skills through batting partnerships.
• Learn the differences between indoor and outdoor cricket while developing game awareness.
What to bring:
• Comfortable clothing to run/ move around in. Also, it can get pretty cold so some warm clothing is highly advised, even if it seems like a nice morning, temperatures at Hagley Park are generally lower.
• Morning tea, lunch and a bottle of water (no food that requires heating).

This tournament is run by MetroCricket and has multiple organisations participating.
We leave SkillWise at approximately 9.30am.
If meeting at Hagley Park, arrive before 10:00am.
Finishing at: Approx. 1:30pm at Hagley Park. Or 3pm from SkillWise.
Meet at SW carpark. If raining, meet in Hang Out area. This class uses the SkillWise vans so if you use a wheelchair or a walker we need to make sure we can fit these in the vehicle.
TeeBall
Facilitator: Michelle & Danielle
When: Thursday 12:45PM - 3:00PM
Where: Meet at SkillWise (12.45pm) or Cowles Stadium (1.15pm)

Description:
An outdoor sporting activity based on softball and baseball. Term 4 focuses on developing skills, teamwork, and game practice, with Term 1 providing the opportunity to compete against other teams in a supportive environment.
You will learn:
• Develop ball handling, batting, and running skills.
• Build teamwork through playing Tee-Ball with others.
• Gain experience playing games and connecting with other teams.
What to bring:
• Water bottle (essential).
• Hat (essential).
• Afternoon tea.
Other Info:
• Transport limited to 6 participants due to van capacity.
• Participants travelling by bus leave SkillWise at 12:15 pm to arrive at Cowles Stadium by 1:00 pm.
• Sessions are weather dependent.
• If cancelled, alternative activities will be provided at SkillWise.
Badminton

When: Friday 12:45PM - 3:00PM
Where: Meet at SkillWise at 12.45pm or Skellerup Hall at 1.30pm(170 Pages Road)

Description:
Play badminton at Skellerup Hall with peers, learning the rules of badminton, how to play and how to score games.
You will learn:
• Learn how to play a game of singles/ doubles badminton (with scoring).
• Physically improve or learn how to play badminton.
• Play competitive or social matches based on your ability/ and pace.
What to bring:
• Drink bottle.
• Healthy afternoon snack like a banana or muesli bar.
Other Info:
Courts are booked from 1:30PM until 2:30PM. These times are sharp.
Twilight Cricket

When: Monday 5:30PM - 7:45PM (Approximately)
Where: Meet at Hagley Park Polo Grounds at 5.30PM
Extra Fees: One off $30 Sub-fee
Description:
Play in a mainstream cricket tournament with up to 20 teams. This is SkillWise' most competitive sporting option and prior cricket skills are preferrable. Games last for an average of 1.5 hours - so expect to be physically active the whole game.
You will learn:
• Play cricket at a highly competitive level.
• Increase your fitness
• Teamwork skills and working together
What to bring:
• Water/ drink of some sort. Sunscreen (ideally applied before the session). Your own transport (bus is fine) - must be independent, or with someone who can drive.
• Comfortable clothing and shoes to run/ move around in. Also, it can get pretty cold so some warm clothing is highly advised, even if it seems like a nice morning, temperatures at Hagley Park are generally lower.

• Dates of season: Mid November - Mid March (TBC)
