What is Flexible Disability Support?

Flexible Disability Support means working alongside persons that have a personal budget.

The person chooses the supports they purchase with their budget - this is Flexible Support.

At SkillWise, there is a Flexible Support Team that works alongside a person that has an Enabling Good Lives Personal budget.

How the Flexible Disability Support team can work with you:

Goal Planning

SKillWise aims to:

  • Work with you to identify goals from your good life plan and/or your MyDSS Plan.

  • Talk with you about what support you would like to achieve these goals.

Person-Driven Support

SkillWise aims to:

  • Work with you on progress towards achieving goals identified in your goal plan.

  • Work with you in a person-driven way.

  • Work with you to identify the correct pathway to achieving your goal.

  • Provide support that is chosen by you, and led by you.

SkillWise works with you in achieving goals that support your good life, offering a range of flexible services:

Facilitated Buying and Coaching:

SkillWise aims to:

  • Be hands on and provide oversight with paperwork and managing your budget.

  • Manage invoices on your behalf.

  • Work with you and your whānau to explore disability services and items of your choice, to support you in making the most out of your budget and to live your good everyday life.

  • Work with you and your whānau to understand your MyDSS Plan and how this works with your budget.

  • Work with you and your whānau in budget admin and planning budget costs so that you spend the correct amount.

  • Work with you to align your budget and goals.

  • Give updates about how your budget is going.
