• Build confidence for transitioning to independent life, especially for those moving from family support to living on their own.

Description:
Support the Ōtautahi | Christchurch community by delivering hot meals to approximately 10 households as part of the NZ Red Cross Meals on Wheels programme.
You will learn:
• Volunteer time to support the NZ Red Cross / Meals on Wheels by delivering meals to members of the community.
• Work cooperatively with peers, taking turns to navigate the delivery van and assist with meal deliveries.
• Help ensure meals are delivered safely, accurately, and on time.

Practice writing in your way. We publish the SkillWise newsletter at the end of each month. We also practice scrapbooking to learn how to put pages together, and there is the opportunity to learn aspects of Canva (online design tool).

Volunteering: SPCA (Wednesday)

Description:
Sign up to be a volunteer at the SPCA, helping to wash, dry, fold and store cat and dog bedding. Other tasks can include washing animal bowls or filling heavy bags of pet food.
You will learn:
• The importance of hygiene: how clean bedding directly affects animals’ health, comfort and stress levels.
• Learn to be part of a team and how every task, no matter how unglamorous, keeps the whole system running.
• Even without direct animal handling volunteers are contributing to their wellbeing.
What to bring:
• Warm jacket (volunteers will be working outdoors).
