Requirements: No prior money-handling experience required. Basic numeracy will help, but all financial concepts will be introduced from the beginning.

What to Expect

This class helps you build confidence with money by learning practical skills in a supportive environment. You'll explore everyday financial situations like budgeting, shopping, saving and using bank services. This class involves real-life examples and hands-on activities.

What You’ll Learn

  • Understand and use cash, EFTPOS cards, and online payments in everyday settings

  • Get familiar with terms like “budget,” “income tax,” and “GST” in a practical, accessible way

  • Build knowledge step-by-step toward financial independence and confidence

Benefits for You

Learn how to manage your money in simple, everyday ways. You will practise making a budget, keeping track of what you spend, and learning how to make your money go further. You’ll get better at shopping smart by comparing prices and choosing good value items. You will feel more confident using cash, bank cards, and phone apps to handle money safely. You’ll also use easy maths to help you with real-life tasks like shopping, going to the bank, or buying food at a café. You will start to think about saving money, knowing the difference between needs and wants, and planning for the future. You can learn at your own pace with support from the group and the facilitator. There is also the chance to earn a certificate by completing an ASDAN module.
