Entries to SkillWise 2011
SkillWise has undergone significant growth over the last 18 months which has seen
the number of people supported rise by over 65%. Staff numbers increased
accordingly and during this period we moved into new premises.
Therefore, the Board of Trustees has decided because we are at full capacity
SkillWise will not be able to take any referrals for up to a twelve month period,
this is effective from 28 October 2010.
This decision has not been made lightly and comes after exploring a number of
options to create more places for 2011. With the extent of growth and the
continuing demand for places (and in the absence of a viable alternative) it was
decided the best option was to have an extended period of time to embark upon a
comprehensive service development project that will look at the following:
• Quality of service provision in particular the provision of more individualised
service.
• Different approaches to meet current demand and ensure sustainability in the
future
• Strategic partnerships to ensure more opportunities, for example meaningful
tertiary education opportunities
• Reviewing and updating a variety of systems and processes
SkillWise Trustee’s and Management acknowledge the impact this may have on
individuals transitioning in 2010/2011 and their families.
However, the challenging circumstances we are faced with have forced us to take the
decision outlined above.
We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding regarding this
issue.
The service development project will open new and exciting opportunities for people
in 2012!
Kind Regards
